Why everyone is tricoloring their profile pics on fb. We can see a sudden rush towards tricolored profile pics. It all started by FB founder Mark Zuckerberg. It started on Sunday night as Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg announced after a question-and-answer event with Modi in California that he had tinted his profile picture with the hues of the Indian flag to support the Indian prime minister’s digital programme. Zukerberg asked others to follow suit. The Indian prime minister did so immediately, and shortly after, thousands of other Indian Facebook users did the same. They were were greeted by a message thanking them for “helping transform India into a digitally empowered society”. Digital India is an initiative of the Government of India to ensure that government services are made available to citizens electronically by improving online infrastructure and by increasing internet connectivity. It was launched on 1 July 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The initiative includes plans to connect rural areas with high-speed internet networks. Digital India has three core components. These include: The creation of digital infrastructure Delivering services digitally Digital literacy A two-way platform will be created where both the service providers and the consumers stand to benefit.
